Martin has been climbing for over 20 years, evolving from a passionate enthusiast into a highly skilled technician. In his routes, you'll find a unique blend of technical precision and playful creativity. He loves to experiment with holds, exploring every possible way they can be used to create dynamic and engaging sequences.
Martin's heart belongs to the raw beauty of Czech sandstone, where he adores climbing on picturesque rock towers. He also has a deep appreciation for granite, drawn to its distinct texture and the variety of holds it offers. These natural experiences heavily influence his setting style, bringing the organic flow of real rock into the gym.
He often designs routes with smaller climbers in mind. His routes ensure that technique and cleverness often triumph over pure reach, making the climbing experience inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.
Professional Journey: Martin started route setting in 2010 and officially turned professional in 2015. Since then, he has worked as a full-time route setter and climbing instructor, combining his technical expertise with a passion for teaching and inspiring others.
Climbing has fascinated me since childhood; my first climbing steps were at age 14, and today I can't imagine life without it. My route setting journey began many years ago in an old gym in my hometown. It still stands today, recently renovated, and I still love returning there. That's where I took my first steps—working with old holds and no modern equipment—learning the raw fundamentals of the craft.
From there, I moved on to modern gyms, refined my style, learned new techniques, and gradually turned my passion for climbing into my profession.
I love climbing on diverse rock types—sandstone, limestone, granite, and more. I deeply admire the shapes and natural steps that nature has sculpted over millennia. In my routes, I try to incorporate the lessons I've learned from Mother Nature, bringing that organic flow into the gym.
My routes are often technical and playful, designed to engage the climber's mind as much as their body.
